The grade fell away from the house, so the design takes it in stages: a stone terrace at floor level, steps down to the pool surround, and planting beds holding the banks either side.

Materials were chosen to sit with the house rather than contrast with it, and the lighting was designed at the same time as the planting so the beds still read after dark.
